It has been announced by
Vertex, the company who runs the Trainline at Edinburgh and Dingwall,
that it is outsourcing the work to New Delhi India by May 2006.
Vertex
hopes that no jobs will be effected as they have secured a contract
with telecoms giant Vodafone for its Edinburgh site which currently
employs 174 staff, and is currently seeking work for the Dingwall site
which currently employs 260 staff.
Alan
Tomlin, chief executive of the Trainline, said: “The new contract
utilising Vertex’s UK and overseas operations will help provide a
flexible service for our business. We will maintain our current high
standards with the transfer of work to India and it will not affect
the level of service we offer to our customers in any way.”
