Direct - Contact centre staff brush up skills
Recruits for a new consumer advice call centre covering the north-east of England have begun their training.
Consumer Direct will offer advice on subjects such as faulty items, too-high bills and scams to callers from Teesside to Northumberland.
Based in Redcar, the DTI initiative will begin operating on 20 February and has led to the creation of 20 jobs.
On Thursday, the new recruits will take time out from training for a team building exercise at a youth centre. This will involve refurbishing Eston's California Youth and Community Centre.
Councillor Joyce Benbow, Redcar and Cleveland Council's cabinet member for community safety, said: "Now they have started a gruelling seven-week training period. Team-building events like this are an essential part of the process in getting everyone to gel and work together. It has also given us the opportunity to put something back into the community and we're sure the California will be pleased with the final result."
