TSC - Buoyant times reported

It has been reported that Telecom Service Centres is planning to create more jobs and expand its Dearne Valley operations, after boosting profits from £3 million to £5.1 million

"Our Dearne Valley operation has again performed very well throughout last year and we look forward to expanding the business there this year and recruiting more staff," said Ken Hills, chief executive of the group, which is the UK's fourth largest contact centre company.

TSC, which has nine contact centres in the UK and acquired a centre at Gurgaon, near Delhi in India, last year, achieved its 70 per cent profits increase for the 12 months to the end of August on a 12 per cent rise in turnover from £49.3 million to £55.1 million.

"I am delighted that we are continuing to maintain such a consistently strong record of growth, our growth last year was 50 per cent ahead of the average for the sector which, in itself, is a real achievement in the face of tough competition.

"But to couple that with such a significant rise in profits underlines our overall competitiveness – and shows we are in excellent shape to secure further expansion during 2008.

"While the financial figures are important, TSC is also about people, and I am equally proud of the fact that in the last three years we have doubled our staff. In that time our employee numbers have risen from 1,600 to over 3,000 – often bringing jobs to areas where there is a real need for employment."

TSC says that, while the UK will remain its operational base, the group is now embarking on a worldwide search for new customers to join a blue chip client list, which includes Vodafone, T-Mobile, HSBC and Hewlett Packard.

Ken Hills believes the call centre industry is going to see a significant increase in demand for both on and off shore centres.

TSC is targeting new business in the UK, the USA, Australia and India and sees opportunities to acquire further call centres abroad as well as growing its existing operations.
