Job cuts as 7 of its 9 contact centres close?

Staff at Courier company City Link are facing anxious times as it has been announced that 7 of its 9 UK based contact centres will close.

Stuart Godman, Sales & marketing Director advised that the proposed decision to closure contact centres were based on feedback from their customers.

He commented, "We have consulted and listened to feedback from our customers and we are delighted with this investment as we will be able to understand and service our customers with their national and international express delivery requirements on a local basis through a dedicated local team who will have a local understanding and remit.

“In order to deliver a quality, local service we have invested significantly in new telephony systems and embarked on a service excellence training programme to ensure that we continue to deliver our ‘service, service, service’ ethos, providing a consistently high level of service to all of our customers while developing a ‘best in class’ customer care culture.

“Our customer care management will move from the contact centres into our local depots in phases between January and June.”

In a statement, the company added: “We do not have any redundancy numbers as there are a number of redeployment opportunities and we do not know at this point how many colleagues will choose to explore these internal opportunities.”
