Bookmaker Stan James set to close contract centre

It has been announced that bookmaker Stan James is set to close its UK based contact centred with the operation moving to Gibraltar.

A total of 74 jobs will go with the closure at Grove Technology Park next month, although the staff are being offered the chance to transfer to the British overseas territory.

Stan James already has a contact centre in Gibraltar and managing director Steve Fisher said the move was to save money.

Mr. Fisher, UK Managing Director. commented that “All affected staff have been offered relocation on their existing terms to the Gibraltar office. Obviously, not everyone is in a position to take up the offer.”

The company believes the costs of continuing to use both sites — duplicating hardware equipment, software licenses, support and maintenance, staff and premises — has become too expensive.

Mr. Fisher said: “The move will save a significant amount of money by not duplicating the resources. It is obvious that all the business can be dealt with from one site, and as all the pricing feeds and technology staff are in Gibraltar, it would not be possible to run the entire operation from the UK.”
