E.ON - Announce closure of its Essex based contact centre

Energy provider E.ON have announced the closure of its Essex based contact centre with the potential loss of up to 800 jobs.

E.ON's management at the Raleigh based operation stated that it will Endeavour initially to offer the effected staff voluntary redundancies and, where applicable, the transfer to other sites within the group.

The jobs losses are reported to be from the company's IT Department, Energy Services business Department, although as at time of posting the number of agent positions affected is unknown.

Commenting on the closure Graham Bartlett, Managing Director of E.ON's Retail business, said the closure of the site in an effort to 'improve its customer service operations' and following 'tough financial results' over the past few years.
