National Grid - Job cuts leaked in memo

Utility giant National Grid caused uproar by  sending out an email destined to Managers only to all staff about job cuts across their contact centres in Northampton and Hinkley.

A National Grid spokesman said: "Unfortunately an unfinished draft document was emailed inadvertently to a number of employees. We are committed to meaningful consultation with our staff and their representatives."

The email advised Managers of yup to 400 job cuts across the two sites.

Mike Jeram, Unison's head of business and environment, said: "Cutting 400 jobs would cause havoc to the energy service. They should think again."
