TalkTalk
- Beats Santander for ‘worst’ customer service wooden spoon
Home phone and broadband giant TalkTalk has been given a wooden spoon award, after its customer service was voted the worst in Britain.
TalkTalk has been named as the company with Britain’s worst customer services in 2010, and given the Wooden Spoon award by financial website thisismoney.co.uk.
The phone and broadband provider TalkTalk received 28% of the several thousand votes, which were submitted by post and online by Daily Mail readers.
Spanish-owned bank Santander came a close second, with 24% of the votes, and in third place was bungling tax collector HM Revenue & Customs.
The Wooden Spoon award spotlights the huge flaws in TalkTalk's customer service
Thisismoney.co.uk said: “The Wooden Spoon is the award that no organisation wants to win because it spotlights the huge flaws in their customer service.”
Dido Harding, chief executive of TalkTalk,
said: “I absolutely recognise that we have not provided a good
service to some of our customers this year, for which I
apologise.”
Thisismoney.co.uk said that consumers had voted for TalkTalk to
take the accolade for a number of reasons, including:
* Calls not returned, emails unanswered and no explanations
provided
* Rude, insensitive and dishonest staff
* Being charged for services that had not been asked for or
received
* Being put on hold for hours on end, being sent round in
circles and then hung up on
* Poor technical support
* Difficulties understanding staff at the overseas call centres
* Botched service and billing for former Tiscali customers.
