City Council - Promote
Recruitment Day with 500 jobs on
offer
Major employers from across Wearside will be looking to fill more than 500 vacancies at the Contact Centre Recruitment Day today (25th January) at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens.
The event, organised by Sunderland City Council and sponsored by npower, will give jobseekers the chance to find out about potential career opportunities in one of the city’s biggest sectors, employing about 10,000 people.
Council leader Paul Watson said: “Recruitment events are increasingly rare these days, and it’s great to see our 12th contact centre event taking place. Last year, 750 people visited it, and we hope anyone who is out of work or looking to change career comes along to find out what opportunities exist for them in this resilient industry.”
He added: “Sunderland is one of the leading locations in the world for contact centre companies, and our profile continues to grow thanks to the talented, adaptable workforce of our city who help each of these companies to succeed.”
Contact centres pump more than £150million a year into Wearside’s economy, and have continued to thrive despite the ups and downs of the economic cycle.
