Car manufacturer to close Glasgow based Contact Centre

It has been announced that Percepta  is to close its Glasgow based contact centre with the loss of 130 jobs.

The contact centre, which is co-owned by the Ford Motor Company, handles calls from Ford, Jaguar and Land Rover owners and is set to close in September.

Operations Director Alan Meldrum said the Bath Street lease runs out in June and can't be renewed, while charges for another property in the city centre were said to be "prohibitive". However, Mr Meldrum pledged: "We are in a 90-day consultation period and every effort will be made to redeploy as many people as possible. "They have all done a fabulous job since we opened five years ago. Percepta will still continue operating in Glasgow where we plan to maintain the firm's European and Asia Pacific headquarters."

The work currently done in Glasgow is being switched to a new call centre in Coventry.
