Wellington Boot Company - Up to 50 staff given the boot

Hunter Rubber Company, the company famed for making Wellington Boots have announced that staff at their Crichton, Scotland face redundancy as the company went into administration.

First Minister of Scotland Jack McConnell commented has vowed to support the Dumfries and Galloway based contact centre workers with assistance from all agencies trying to help the workers concerned.

"There is the potential for 50 job losses if a buyer is not found for the Hunter Rubber Company," Dr Murray said. "Although I understand that there is considerable interest in the company."

The deadline for expressions of interest in the Hunter Rubber Company expires on 21 April.
