The e-Government National Awards 2010 is open for entries

The e-Government National Awards 2010, the UK’s most closely watched public sector technology competition, is now open for entries. (website)
Covering eleven categories, the awards recognise the teams and organisations deploying excellence and technological innovation in the way they communicate and interact with citizens and businesses. They are open to organisations in local and national government, the NHS, education and the third sector.
The entry process, which opens today, will continue until 6 October, with the finalists revealed in November. The online nomination form is available at Click here
Last year’s ceremony saw over 450 entries whittled down to just 14 winners.
These awards act as a benchmark of quality in e-Government innovation and implementation, and are closely watched by many in both the public and private sectors.
Prime Minister David Cameron said: “The e-Government National Awards recognise some of the brilliant work done by digital specialists working across national and local government. One of our big ambitions is to make government more transparent, open and accountable and digital communications will play a massive part in that. I congratulate all the nominees and encourage all digital specialists across the public sector to follow their good example and innovation.”
Government CIO John Suffolk, a veteran judge of all six e-Government National Awards, said: “If ever there was a time to celebrate innovation, delivery, success and cross government teamwork, it is now. As the expression goes we need your success stories, so others can copy, learn and adopt. The public sector has a lot to be proud of and these awards give the recognition to the incredibly hard working people behind the projects.”
This year’s ceremony will take place on 26 January 2011 at the iconic London Guildhall.
