Contact Leeds celebrates contact centre success

Sabio, the innovative contact centre services and solutions company, has announced that a contact centre which has transformed the way Leeds City Council can be contacted is celebrating after the manager responsible for its development won a national award for project management. Sabio worked with Leeds City Council last year to design, implement and support the technology for the IP-based contact centre.

Anthony Burnham, service transformation programme manager at the Contact Leeds centre, was announced as the winner of the 'Best Contact Centre Network Project - Implementation' award at the Communications in Business Awards held in London last week.

The GBP 2.8 million Contact Leeds centre was completed within budget in just 12 months and was officially opened earlier this year by Jane Tomlinson and Councillor Mark Harris.

Anthony managed the development of the centre which since completion has been visited by many other councils and public sector organisations keen to learn from Leeds' success.

The Communications in Business Awards, organised by Communications News, recognise excellence among IT professionals in the UK and judges were looking for projects which demonstrated individual excellence in achieving benefits for the organisation concerned.

Councillor David Blackburn, executive board member for customer service, Leeds City Council, said: "This award highlights what was achieved when setting-up the Contact Leeds centre and demonstrates the high regard which that achievement is held in.

"The centre has been a great success so far and we are always looking at ways to improve our services further for our customers. I hope this is the first of many awards which Contact Leeds will win for its services and achievements."
