T-Mobile & Orange Announce details of merger

What happens to staff at their contact centres?

Mobile phone giants T-Mobile and Orange have announced plans to merge the two companies creating Britain's largest mobile phone operator with 28.4 million customers.

The merger, still to be approved by the European Commission, The Office of Fair Trading and Ofcom, will see the 'new' company make £3.5bn of savings mainly from the merger of their existing contact centres combined with the closure or amalgamation of their High street Operations.

T-Mobile's flagship contact centre, based in Greenock Scotland currently employs over 800 staff and is thought to be at the forefront of the rationalisation.

We will of course keep you informed of developments as they happen.
